PostSubject: LED Interior Lighting   Thu Dec 27, 2007 6:44 pm

I've gotten a lot of questions regarding my Charger's red interior LED lights...

The recommended bulbs for the newer Dodge Chargers, Magnums and 300's are:

Front Map Lights : 39mm Festoon
Link - http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm

Rear Passenger Lights: 194
Link - http://autolumination.com/194.htm

Trunk : 562 - 44mm Rigid Loop SMT or Rigid Loop 3 WATT or 44mm 9LED Regid Loop
Link = http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm

Autolumination sells about any type of LED bulb you may need for your vehicle, including a variety of colors. You can contact them if you have any questions about your specific vehicle's interior lights. Their customer service was pretty good when I was dealing with them!

My continued thanks to DeafCharger for this information.

Blue would be really nice, if you were keeping the stripes. Smile

I'm a big fan of both colors and I know a lot of others have been very happy with the Super White bulbs if you're simply looking to add better lighting, rather than color.

I've heard about people removing the heatshield from their front cabin lights to get even more light. Did you end up doing that or is a waste using directional (more or less) LEDs?

Yes, you really have to remove the shield or you won't get much light at all.

Which, (correct me if I'm wrong here) shouldn't cause a problem and LEDs don't create as much heat as an incandesent bulb. That would be my one worry about this mod. Have you noticed any accelerated wear and tear on yours?

Oh, LEDs don't produce any noticeably heat what so ever.. Now, when you go to remove the stock light bulbs, make sure they're off for a while before you reach up and grab them or else you'll melt some flesh to them. Those suckers get scolding hot!

LED's also use less power than an incandescent bulb, so if anything you're putting less wear and tear on the system. Smile

Yup, it's pretty amazing how far LED tech come and where it's aiming to go.
